Radford racing are classic car race preparers and classic car restorers. We can restore all classic cars ranging from Ferrari's to Rolls Royce.
The origins of Radford Racing started in 1947 by the now owners father. His own upbringing was through the motor trade in the 1930's and 40's where he worked for a specialist garage in Hampstead North London, looking after exotics of the day and chauffeuring around such notable people as the relatives of the Count Zborowski and the like.
Thus his interest in motorsport started at that time with visits with these clients to the Brooklands track. After service in World War 2 as a senior tank inspector and tester. He ventured out on his own with backing from a Mr Wyatt who at that time owned the foremost private detective agency in the UK as well as being house detective of the RAC club in Pall Mall.
Dad being a superb driver had done some high speed driving for him in the past. All rather James Bond stuff in that period of time. Mr Wyatt stayed a friend and client until his death in the 60's. Dad retained his RAC motor sport membership and his advance drivers right up until his death in 1989.
Our sales and service clientele in the 60's, 70's and into the 80's ranged from household names in the Rock band industry of the time (and now), and the giants of the fashion industry in the swinging sixties and seventies period. That ranged from stretched Mercedes limo's and personalised Mini Cooper's to exotic sports cars.
It was during the late 80's and early 90's that we became involved with many overseas clients requiring our services to restore classic cars and purchase exotics on their behalf, ranging from MGB'S to Zonda's.
After ourselves finding it more and more difficult to drive and test the type of vehicles we specialised in within the confines of the Hampstead area we moved in the late 90's to a suitable premises in Iver, Buckinghamshire, where we renamed ourselves more in keeping with the racing which seemed to take up 99% of our workload. The name taken from the 1st owner of the most famous Jaguar Mark 2 we raced, where his team was called "Radford Racing", as his mechanics were working for Harold Radford coach builders at the time. We also took on an ex Radford Coachbuilders salesman and built a handful of classic Minis to original Radford specifications.
However a further 15 years on we moved again (Hopefully for the final time) into leafy Berkshire where both the racing and our restoration business continue to flourish.
In 2015 happily we were joined by a 3rd generation of the family to take us forward into the 21st century.
However 10 years later due to the increasing volume of long term restoration work a newer more efficient premises was needed hence another move a short distance away closer to Windsor to a fully modernised unit in a truly beautiful rural setting.
